Cromlix Reopens as a Luxury 5 Star Destination
Just three miles from Andy Murray’s home town of Dunblane lies Cromlix. The house, known at the time as Cromlix Cottage, was built in 1874 by Captain Arthur Drummond. It was destroyed by fire four years later and only the chapel survived. In 1880 it was rebuilt to the original design and remained as a private house until 1981 when it became a country house hotel. In 2011 the hotel closed its doors and in early 2013 it was purchased by Wimbledon and Olympic tennis champion Andy Murray.

The hotel has been luxuriously restored, the chief designer being Kathleen Fraser who also worked on the refurbishment of Bovey House in Devon. There are 10 bedrooms and five suites plus the one-bedroom Gate Lodge. The bedrooms are all named after famous Scots including Sean Connery, former Manchester United manager, Sir Alex Ferguson and the late Queen Mother. All are exquisitely furnished and come with televisions disguised as mirrors and iPod docking stations. The sumptuous bathrooms include the hotel’s custom range of Arran Aromatics toiletries.

The food side of the operation comes under the oversight of French chef Michael Roux. You can dine in the Chez Roux Restaurant or there are several options for private dining within the hotel.
The chapel is available to hold weddings which makes the hotel an ideal venue for marriages.
