As one of Scotland’s premier transportation services, we know that millions of people visit Scotland every year for many reasons – the stunning scenery, exciting festivities, enchanting history, and fantastic local food and drink. It’s the drink we’re focusing on in our blog today! Of course, Scotland is famous for its Scotch (the clue’s in the name) but it is now also increasingly becoming a world-class producer of ale and beer.
If you’re partial to a dram (or two) of the finest scotch then join us in Edinburgh on December 12th. The Edinburgh Vaults is hosting the Scotch Malt Whisky Society’s end of year event in which a winner is chosen from a long list of Scottish single malts. Judges will choose their favourite while you taste the forerunners! The night will also include a traditional Scottish supper in the incredibly atmospheric underground vaults.
Ale and craft beer have enjoyed a growth spurt in popularity over recent years, and Scotland has certainly jumped on this growing trend. Summerhall’s Beer FestivALE promises to introduce Edinburgh and its visitors to the finest ales and craft beers in Scotland over the 5th and 6th of December. Each brewery will have their own bar in the old veterinary hospital building, and visitors can meander around the stalls tasting each one and choosing their favourite. Fantastic!
(Whilst both of these events promise to be fantastic fun, we would remind you on the new drink-driving regulations in place in Scotland from the 5th of December – if you’re joining us for a dram or a pint (or possibly both) then make sure that you have someone to get you home!)
