At WL Sleigh, we offer a huge array of day tours around this beautiful country. You can enjoy the comfort of you own friendly and professional driver for the day to show you the best bits of Scotland, from Edinburgh to the Borders, and form Glasgow to Inverness.
Our blog today gives you a virtual tour of Loch Lomond and the Trossachs National Park, situated north-west of Glasgow. The Trossachs National park is the fourth largest in Britain, with a total area of 720 mi² and a boundary of 220 miles in length. The park is a haven for avid walkers, hikers and nature-lovers, boasting a total of twenty-one Munros (mountains over 3000ft high), two forest parks (Queen Elizabeth, and Argyll) and 57 designated special nature conservation sites. Thousand of people travel to the park each year, drawn in by the stunning scenery, challenging walks, and a vast array of wildlife.
While some people come for the dramatic landscapes and hills, others travel to the tranquil shores of Loch Lomond, the largest inland body of water in Britain. Nestled in amongst the munros, the 27mi² lake accommodates a huge variety of leisure and sporting activities, as well as a visitor centre, an aquarium, shops and restaurants. Cruises on Loch Lomond can be taken from Tarbet, Argyll and Bute and Balloch, and on Loch Katrine, to the east of Loch Lomond, visitors can travel on the historic steamship SS Sir Walter Scott.
The Trossachs is often referred to as ‘Scotland in miniature’, as the area offers the visitor a kaleidoscope of beautiful scenery, peaceful lochs and deep glens. It therefore makes a perfect day trip for visitors short of time, as you can truly appreciate Scotland at its best. Of course, longer tours of this stunning area are available and recommended, so you can spend a little longer taking in those breath-taking views! And remember, at WL Sleigh we also offer tailor-made tours, so you can design your own itinerary to suit you. Click here for a look at our other day tours.
