What’s on in Scotland – May 2013
This month we’re looking at events that involve food and drink. Scotland has a proud history of high quality food including seafood (salmon, lobster, langoustines and more), Scottish beef and lamb together with many artisan food producers. And, of course, you can’t forget the Scottish Whisky industry!
- 11 May – Spirit of Stirling Whisky Festival
If you want to explore the delights of Scottish whisky then a visit to the Spirit of Stirling Whisky Festival may be right up your street. With 30 of the most famous brands and distilleries under one roof you’ll get a chance to learn more about this interesting and historic drink. - 18-19 May – Loch Fyne Food Fair
From famous Loch Fyne oysters, venison, preserves, shortbread – oooh, we’re hungry already! A great day out if you want to find out more about Scottish food. Edinburgh Whisky Strammash
25-26 May – Edinburgh Whisky Strammash
Now here’s something a bit different. To quote their website “Once again the Whisky Stramash will excite the purists, tempt the interested and intrigue the indifferent …” If you want an event that is out of the ordinary then I think you could do worse than try this!
- Scottish Farmers’ Markets – various dates and locations
Running all over Scotland, some weekly and others monthly, these are great places to buy quality Scottish foodstuffs and are highly recommended.
